This focus includes supporting local nonprofits and people in need. “Reducing expenses enables us to repurpose member pledges from invoices for electricity to support our local community,” said Hutchins, who credited GCC member Al Rollins for continuing to monitor the equipment production.
Noting they continue to review cost/benefit proposals that would increase the production from the equipment by removing sun blocking trees behind the solar panels, Hutchins cited a strong relationship with the Town of Gilford. “All the departments and boards have been very helpful and cooperative as we change and adapt to new needs,” he explained.
These needs, noted GCC Pastor Michael Graham, include strengthening their community. “We share a campus with Gilford Youth Center, and we are both committed as organizations to opening up our campus for community events,” he said. “We are one of the few local facilities groups can turn to when they need a place to meet.”
