Dear Church Members,

Your church leadership has been working on a project for clean, renewable electricity for our campus.  Accomplishing this would entail the installation of solar panels outside and inverters inside. The back roof of the Gilford Youth Center and the roof facing the playground over the church offices would be utilized for this purpose. Nothing visible would mar our award-winning architecture.

This investment would benefit the environment by reducing the equivalent of 4,729 gallons of gasoline not burned, 9 passenger cars removed from the road, 7,301 gallons of propane not burned, and 1,011 pounds of coal not burned each year. Our effort would be a great example to the community of our commitment to making a positive difference in our environment.

With the installation of our self-generated electric power, we would be reducing our $22,000 annual bill to Eversource.  We would also be avoiding the annual rate increase passed on to all of us.

Our plans include the replacement of the large lights in the Gilford Youth Center with new LED technology.  The investment will not only improve the lighting and dimming ability, but reduce the energy needed to light the large gym.

Currently, we are seeking out numerous grants and awards. Our goal of $297,000 would necessitate a huge commitment from our congregation as well. Our church finances are strong, but we do not want to put all our current eggs in one basket.

Please consider gifting of appreciated stocks, utilization of the required distribution each year from your IRA, or other methods that will allow you to fund without the income tax effect you might incur.

You can discuss the benefits of this commitment with members of the Finance Committee or with Warren Hutchins or Walt Flinn. Please send any donation directly to the church office. If you would like to discuss any financial options, please email Warren at: whutchins@metrocast.net or call him at (603) 366-4982.

Instead of just talking about climate change, this is an opportunity to "do something" positive. Please join us to make this effort possible.
