More than 50 women attended the recent Second Annual Women’s Retreat, presented by Gilford Community Church (GCC) at Brookwoods Conference Center in Alton.
Open to GCC members and the public, the retreat was organized by Lynne DeVivo, who referred to it as a way for women to enjoy “a day away, free of phones or interruptions.” “Our keynote speaker, Gina McGuire of Laconia, was inspirational and motivating,” she said. “Her spirited talk had the group laughing and dancing first thing in the morning.”

In addition to the keynote address, the retreat featured nine workshops, which included line dancing, Reiki, meditation, stone painting, book tasting, floral design, nature’s art creations, chair yoga and singing by the campfire.
For DeVivo, who has been a GCC member for more than 30 years, her takeaway from the day is the laughter and strong social connections that were made. “It was gratifying for me to see these connections developing over the course of the day,” she said.
